Kitchen Update

Here's a recent picture of our kitchen.  Yep, looks the same as last week.  But my job this weekend is to get our cabinets for the island/peninsula.  I became unmotivated today due to the disgusting inversion...I really didn't want to go outside.  So griffin and I have been curled up on the couch watching enlightening daytime television.
Maybe tomorrow...

Belly Pics

So for week 30 I thought I'd show you a naked and clothed belly pic.  I think the naked ones start to all look the same after a while.   But looking at the clothed one, you can say 'Wow, she really does look like a beluga'.  Yes, I'm very pregnant.  Thankfully, I've been blessed with good genes so I don't really feel pregnant.  If it weren't for these pesky 'gas pains' (i.e. baby moving ALL the time) I wouldn't really know I was pregnant.  Oh, and the increasing abdomen size I guess.  :)  But only about 2 months left until this little guy joins us, so his kicking wakes me up in the night I remind myself that I'm lucky all I have to do is roll over.  I don't have to get out of bed to comfort him....yet.

End of Round 1

So last night Mike broke through the wall...

And tore it down.  I was pretty impressed with how quickly it came down.  I knew that, it being plaster and all, it was going to be a major pain.  But by about 4pm it was totally down.
He left 2 2x4's up because they're holding some questionable wiring...but other then's a big hole.
Now we can begin the putting back together piece.  Yipee!  The fun stuff.  I'm just hoping we motivate to that part faster then we did the wall tear down.

It has begun

I went to breakfast this morning with my sister, and when we arrived back at the house we walked in the door to this.

Plastic draped from the ceiling.  This means, my husband has begun tearing out the kitchen wall.  We've talked about doing this ever since we moved into this's surreal it's actually happening.  And it makes me a little hesitant of our plan.  Is it really going to work?  Is the kitchen actually going to be worse when we're done?  Will it be so bad that we'll never be able to sell the house?  These thoughts run through my mind about 16 times a day...and now that we've begun the tear down, there is no turning back.  So cross your fingers for us.

With the demolition so far, we found a mouse hole and some extremely (and dangerously) old wiring...this should be interesting.  I was thinking there would be a body in the wall or far, all normal things.  Or, expected things I should say.

(and i use the term 'we' very loosely in this post.  I'm actually sitting far away on the couch by the open window to limit my dust breathing while my husband does all the work.)

Belly Pic update

Below are pics for week 27 and week 28.  And honestly, I can't really tell a difference.  Week 27 I think the babe went through a major growth spurt.  I gained 2 lbs overnight and my stomach doubled in size (well it feels like it to me anyway)

The baby has been moving around quite a bit, definitely letting us know he is in there.  I'm starting to think instead of it just being one small baby boy, it's actually a mariachi band in there, and they prefer to practice in the wee hours of the night.

Last night while we were sleeping, I was laying against Mike's back.  He woke me up in the middle of the night and told me I needed to roll over, the baby was kicking him.  Man oh man...if only he knew what it was like to have the baby kicking him ALL the time.  :)  But I can't lie, most of the time I enjoy it.

Christmas 2008

This year for Christmas it was just me and Mike. The entire 2 days prior to Christmas, Mike kept wanting to open presents. In his family, they open all their presents on Christmas eve. But in our family, we open everything on Christmas morning. So I figured this year we would do Christmas my way. He barely made it to Christmas morning, but he made it.

We woke up early and ran out to the living room. We started with the stockings and then moved onto the gifts. I think the whole thing was over in 15 minutes....but I had a great time.
A lot of our gifts were either on their way or already purchased (see the TV behind me, yeah, that was one of the big ones)

We also bought ourselves a new bed frame/headboard. So after the 2 big gifts, we didn't think it was necessary to buy each other more gifts. But...for the sake of having something to open on christmas morning we decided to buy each other 5 gifts but couldn't spend more then $25 total. It was a bit of a challenge, and we both failed and spent over..but it was fun. A lot of socks, slippers, t-shirts, etc. It was fun.
I had to keep telling myself that this was the last year we would be alone Christmas. Well, at least for the next 30 or so years....crazy. So after we opened presents, in our true kidless fashion, we headed up to the mountain. Me to work, Mike to play. All in all it was a very good day!
